Grammarians consider the morphological forms as the base of the syntactic study because of the different semantic, lexical and morphological meanings that they can denote. This is a study of the form of ((Istafala)) اسْتَفْعَلَ in the book (The Full Poetic Works) containing the works of one of the lived-abroad peots, Elia Abu Madi, aiming to search the different meanings that this form denotes, and to show which of those denotations are most present in the poet's poetry and to what extent they are correspondent to those used by morphologists in their writings.
It turned out that Elia Abu Madi's poetry follows the Arabic language rules in his use of the form of (Istafala) ,and that the form of (Istafala) in the book expresses different language functions: request, intensification, reflection of (Afa'l )أفعل , adoption, transmutation, and replacing the unaugmented.
The most prominent meaning of (Istafala) in his poetry is that of request, which confirms what the morphologists say that the form of (Istafala) is mainly used to make a request. Also, the inferred meanings of (Istafala) are correspondent to those used by morphologists in their writings except for the function of intensification that has been imposed by the different contexts it's been used in.
This study has also concluded that this book of The Full Poetic Works is a fertile field to apply the idea of multi-morphological meanings of a morphological form.
